By taking an audit of how we spend our time, we can start to wrap our head around where we’re wasting time and where we should be placing more of our attention.
Why use it?
There’s an all-too-common scenario in leadership where the leader gets burned out by spending too much time on things that are mentally draining, and not enough time in the areas that leave them excited and fulfilled in their work.
There’s also a number of tasks on any given day that feel ineffective or inefficient. These are the meetings and to-dos that we question the value of, and that we know distract us from the most important work.
Our task is to gain clarity in both of these areas, and to optimize where our time and attention goes. This audit will give you an objective look into that.
How to use it?

You will take inventory of where your time has gone in recent weeks, and you will assess both how those tasks impact your energy and how much leverage they give you in your business / role.
High energy, low leverage activities are traps: you really like them, but they should be delegated or limited.
High leverage, low energy activities are chores: automate them, group them with higher-energy activities, or train someone to do them well.
Low leverage, low energy activities are a distraction: they should be delegated or deleted.
High leverage, high energy activities are your strengths: they should be the bulk of your work, and given priority and focus in your day to day work.
After assessing these tasks you will answer a few questions about where and how you can be optimizing your time better.
Repeat this audit any time you feel like your time and work are ineffective, inefficient, or draining.
