When I went off to college, my mom gave me advice that has shaped my path more than she could have ever imagined.
She didn’t tell me to get straight As. Or to study constantly. Or to “be good”.
She told me to get involved.
Join a fraternity. Join clubs. Find things to do on campus.
I don’t know why my 18 year old brain decided to latch onto this simple idea of getting involved, but it did.
I joined a fraternity. And eventually became the president of it. I joined a leadership club. And eventually became the university’s ambassador for it. I found things to do. I joined things. I got involved.
What wasn’t obvious at the time was that these experiences put me on a path of leadership that continues to define my career to this day.
At 25 I was leading my first team.
At 29 I was leading multiple teams.
At 34 I was leading global teams.
At 35 I was studying Leadership at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
At 36 I was leading more global teams.
And at a freshly-turned 38, that path continues with the creation of the High Performance Leadership OS™.

Woven throughout the above timeline was a restless pursuit of understanding how to lead myself and others better.
I didn’t just want to be a leader. I wanted to be a better leader.
We spend more time with our colleagues than we do with our families. Why not make the most of that time?
