This site is about growth.
Not discontented growth for growth’s sake. But growth in the direction of our best and most fulfilled selves.
Growth in our careers, and using our skills in rewarding ways.
Growth in our habits, our internal states, and how we show up in the world.
Growth in our relationship with ourself and others.
Forward.
But how does growth work?
Well, it starts with our mindset.
Because first and foremost, growth is a choice.
Systems, not goals.
We have to give voice to where we are stuck.
And apply the 3 Cs of growth to this voice.
The 3 Cs lead to a system.
Our task is to take action.
Oftentimes change requires us going all-in.
And all-in can actually be easier.
Because when we’re all-in, our sole task is to take action.
Inputs, not outputs.
Within that system of action, we control the controllables.
We make it easy to succeed and hard to fail.
And we detach from the outcomes.
Our actions are evidence, and evidence is what shifts our identities.
But life isn’t just about us.
We’re redwoods after all, and our roots are intertwined with countless people around us. Reminding ourselves that we’re a tiny piece of a gigantic puzzle helps. It feels good to have the weight of our own centrality lifted. It can lead to things that are objectively better for ourselves and the people around us like…
Empathy.
Perspective.
Selflessness.
When we choose to grow, we’re also choosing to improve the world and people around us to whatever degree we can. Growth is the rising tide that raises all boats. It’s the bridge between being simultaneously selfish and selfless.
More joy and connection. Less anger, stress, and anxiety.
For ourselves, and for others.
Oh, and one last thing…
I really appreciate you being here. Writing is both my lab and my community. There’s something intangible and incredible about connecting with you through the written word, while I sort jumbled ideas into something coherent and helpful. Writing is a tool for making sense of the world around me.
