If you are feeling overwhelmed...if you are feeling stressed...if you are feeling anxious...if you are feeling angry or sad or depressed...
Close your eyes and zoom out on your life. Seriously.
Picture the camera zooming out on you in your current situation. As the camera zooms out from where you are, you suddenly see the city or space surrounding you. It continues to zoom out and you see the state you're in, and a little further you see the country you're in. And finally you watch the world start to take shape until you see that classic picture from space of the earth below.
Now looking at that insanely beautiful blue and green globe floating in front of you, imagine the tens of billions of people that have walked amongst it.
And from there - the earth, the 7 billion people within it, the billions of people resting in peace within it.
Our problems in life do not arise from anything tangible. Our problems arise from the human condition of having to live our lives through the lens and perspective of our own selves. Because our only perspective is the one projecting from our physical selves, we cannot help but think we are the center of this immense universe in front of us. How could we not? It's the only perspective we see.
Our problems arise from a miscalculation of our position within this world. We spend our days thinking we're bigger than we are. But the key to getting rid of the overwhelm, the stress, the anxiety, the anger, the sadness?
Getting small.
It's the purest lens of reality we have. We just have to zoom out every now and then.
