Leadership in 4 words.
Call up, not out.
And I don’t mean leadership in some formal sense. This is how we lead others. This is how we lead ourselves.
Calling up is challenge with support.
Calling out is challenge without support.
Calling up is candor with empathy.
Calling out is candor without empathy.
Calling up is setting a high bar because we believe in the person jumping.
Calling out is using the bar against the person jumping.
Calling up is for the other.
Calling out is for themselves.
Leadership is the ability to elevate yourself and those around you through the push and pull of expecting a lot and consistently showing up to help others meet those expectations.
Up, not out.
If you find value in the things I publish here, it’d mean the world if you’d share it with someone else. It’s the only way this space and community continues to grow.
